As the UFC and its sport become increasingly popular, so do more people wonder if SARMs for MMA are a thing.
You would be surprised to find out just how many MMA fighters use PEDs, including SARMs, at least at the amateur level where testing is uncommon.
With that being said, before you even consider taking SARMs, it’s important to learn a thing or two about the legality of SARMs in MMA, the testing process, what SARMs to actually use, where to buy them and so on.
This article will show you all of the above and much more!
Despite the lax procedures at the grassroots level, SARMs and many other drugs are not allowed in any MMA competition.
Amateur fights are sanctioned by the IMMAF (International Mixed Martial Arts Federation) who are directly linked to the main brass, the UFC.
This means that SARMs are completely banned in MMA, at any level, and that using them will get you disqualified and suspended.
Since the UFC is at the forefront of MMA, I’ll show you the list of drugs professional MMA fighters are not allowed to imbue.
The list includes:
- Anabolic Agents
- Beta-2 Agonists
- Hormone And Metabolic Modulators
All of these substances are prohibited, with the exception of cannabinoids (marijuana), who are subject to recent changes in law.
The USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency), the main organization behind the drug tests the UFC administers, has announced that it would be removing marijuana from their list of prohibited substances in 2021.
Note that the USADA is NOT a government organization but a private entity, which means that they are not oversighted by the State.
This means that the USADA can punish athletes as they wish, and many people have expressed concern over the inner workings of this organization, as many athletes feel unjustly persecuted.
All in all, you don’t want to mess with the USADA, as they are very strict and don’t screw around.
How Does The UFC Test For SARMs
It’s very similar to how CrossFit tests for SARMs.
There are two main types of tests administered: A blood test and a urine test.
MMA fighters can be tested either in-competition or out-of-competition, the latter applicable if the subjects are inside the RTP (Registered Testing Pool).
The fighters are required to report their whereabouts and notify the USADA if they are about to imbue any new compound.
The out-of-competition tests can be administered at any time and any location.
Refusing to take the test can be met with the same punishment as testing positive.
Which SARMs are the best for MMA
MMA is a sport where you need to be aggressive, alert, nimble, skillful, and strong.
It’s a sport where your body is put to its limits, where only one can prevail and where just one mistake determines your fate.
Considering all that, the best SARMs (and compounds related to SARMs) would be the ones that increase endurance, speed, and strength.
Lastly, you want some muscle mass, but not too much, as it can slow you down.
The goal is to build functional muscle!
Here is the list:
The safest SARM on this list.
It builds lean muscle mass which is very important to MMA fighters.
More importantly, it helps you shed unwanted fat and weight.
It also helps with bone strength and formation.
Last but not least, it has mild healing properties, which can be of help when recovering from a fight.
I talk a lot more about this SARM in my Ostarine review.
Some of us are meek by nature, and that’s okay, but when you’re in a real MMA fight, nobody cares what or who you are. It’s either do or die.
I chose YK11 because it has the ability to awaken the beast within you.
It bestows you with so much extra strength and aggression, that you feel like you’re on top of the world.
That’s exactly the type of feeling you need to win.
This SARM has a lot more kick to it, read about it in my YK11 review.
MMA is all about speed, who is going to be the first one to reach his opponent and smack him down?
Cardarine is speed incarnate, it gives you a ‘third lung’ – improves your capacity for cardio and makes you a beast on the treadmill.
People run for hours on this stuff and that’s exactly what you need in an MMA fight: Endurance.
Learn what this compound can do for you in my Cardarine review.
Recovery is just as important as fighting, if not more so.
This is where MK-677 comes into play, as it has potent healing properties that will release the stress from your joints and muscles.
Not only that, but MK-677 helps with sleep, which is an additional plus since you need to be well-rested before a fight.
Read all about this compound in my MK-677 review.
Famous MMA Fighters That Got Caught Using SARMs
Many people regard professional MMA fighters as blockheads, but nothing could be further from the truth.
They are smart and accomplished people who know the risks of taking SARMs in the UFC, so they avoid them like the plague.
Still, some of them were caught with traces of SARMs, mostly due to contaminated supplements.
The most popular case is the one of Nate Diaz, who tested positive for trace amounts of LGD-4033 (Ligandrol), a potent SARM.
Nate did nothing wrong, he consumed what he believed to be a natural, vegan, and organic multivitamin called ‘Plant Man’.
To make the story even more bizarre, the supplement was provided by a company called Game Up Nutrition, with whom Nate was affiliated with.
The fighter was later pardoned by the USADA and the supplement he took was marked as a high-risk item, as a warning to other fighters.
Another interesting story enfolded when Walt Harris started taking a new Testosterone booster peddled as all-natural.
As the VADA went on to test him, they once again discovered trace amounts of Ligandrol in his blood.
Walt managed to provide proof which showed no wrongdoing on his part, and eventually, the USADA cleared his name.
However, he didn’t get off scot-free, as he received a four-month suspension for imbuing the compound in the first place.
Even female fighters are not exempt from the tight scrutiny of the USADA, as Nicco Montano, a former UFC flyweight champion found out when receiving a six-month suspension for unknowingly ingesting Ostarine.
There are even more examples of fighters taking what they believed to be natural supplements, which ended up coming back to bite them at a later time.
Keep in mind that there are many vendors out there that sell unregulated stuff over the internet.
The same thing applies to SARMs – if you want to buy them, it’s best to get them from vendors that are tried and tested.
Later on, I’ll show you five SARM vendors that are widely known as the best on the market!
Should MMA Fighters Be Allowed To Use SARMs
The human body is incredibly fragile.
MMA is a full-contact sport, where your goal is to obliterate your opponent with almost any means necessary.
Taking this into consideration, we see that bolstering our bodies with SARMs or any other drugs would just lead to a higher chance of mortally wounding our opponent.
I believe that this is something we all want to avoid, and that’s why, if you’re actively competing, you shouldn’t be allowed to take SARMs or any other PEDs.
SARMs are incredibly powerful, they allow you to surpass your limits and tap into your hidden potential, far beyond the scope of your genetics.
With great power comes great responsibility and therefore, I plead you not to take SARMs if you’re an active MMA fighter.
However, if you’re just looking for a prop as a recreational athlete in MMA, there is nothing to stop you from taking SARMs.
Where To Buy SARMs For MMA
Even professional MMA fighters are having trouble buying pure products, you saw it all in a previous chapter.
I’ve spent the last six years of my life researching SARM vendors, and I can assure you that my recommended companies have the purest SARMs on the planet.
Don’t risk getting bunk, underdosed or tainted SARMs – avoid companies that aren’t on my list!
All in all, SARMs for MMA are banned for a reason.
It would be mayhem out there if MMA fighters were allowed to use SARMs when preparing for a fight.
Injuries are abounding even without synthetic drugs, so it’s best to keep things the way they are.
However, if you’re just a recreational fighter looking for a boost in energy, strength, muscle mass, endurance, or speed, SARMs are the perfect choice for you.
They are effective, and scientifically proven to work!
